About Us

Our Heritage: A Legacy of Enlightenment

Marist International College occupies a unique position in the educational landscape of Wellington. Situated at 15 Dufferin Street, in the historic precinct of Mount Victoria, our campus is more than a collection of buildings; it is a convergence point for rigorous intellect and compassionate character.

Founded on a philosophy that views education as a lifelong continuum rather than a series of disjointed stages, we are one of the few composite institutions in New Zealand offering a seamless pathway from Senior Secondary School (Years 11–13) through to Undergraduate and Postgraduate research. This vertical integration allows us to foster a rare academic ecosystem: one where the inquisitive energy of our high school students is mentored by the disciplined focus of our doctoral candidates.

We acknowledge the Mana Whenua of the Wellington region and integrate the values of Whanaungatanga (relationship) and Manaakitanga (hospitality) into our governance. We are not just an institution; we are a community of scholars dedicated to the pursuit of truth in a complex world.

The Marist Philosophy: Wisdom in Action

Our motto, “Sapientia in Actione” (Wisdom in Action), drives every decision we make. We believe that academic excellence is hollow without the ethical framework to apply it. Whether in the computer lab or the art studio, we challenge our students to ask not just “Can I build this?” but “Should I build this?”

Our faculty is composed of industry veterans and published academics who bridge the gap between theoretical abstraction and practical application. We maintain small class sizes—a rarity in modern tertiary education—to ensure that every student receives the personal mentorship required to unlock their highest potential.

Leadership & Governance

Under the stewardship of Principal Tāne Te Rangi, the college has shifted its focus toward “Future-Proofing” the next generation. Our Board of Trustees includes leaders from New Zealand’s government, the Wellington tech sector, and the arts community, ensuring our strategic direction remains relevant to the evolving demands of the global economy.
